Ok so here goes the first newsletter. I decided to call it “enjoy being” because I want the experience of reading this substack to be like. Enjoying, fairly easy state of mind to be in, but maybe harder than you think? For I think it’s an active choice all the time. To priotize enjoyment but also being able to find it in the small moments during the day. Here are things I enjoyed lately.
💌 THINGS I LIKED AND SAVED
If I were in Amsterdam now, I would book a table at Carmen Kitchen, where Bernardo Costantino is having a guest pop-up in the kitchen. Everything he cooks looks so good!
Solange x Neneh Cherry x Angèle x Yukimi | A Creative Roundtable with CHANEL
Video
This roundtable talk is cozy and interesting. I’m a longtime fangirl of Solange and Neneh Cherry. Angèle and Yukimi were new names to me, so I gave them a listen and liked it.
The talk is about being creative and how it changes with age, and taking a leap of faith. I think Angèle’s answer to it is so simple and true. Now more than ever. Also excited about Solange writing an opera!
Good hang with Amy Poehler
Podcast
Being a daily podcast listener, I love adding Amy Poehler’s new podcast to my list. Poehler invites her friends for a good hang, and her friends are, of course, very funny guests. Favourite episodes are the ones with Jack Black, Kathryn Hahn, and Rashida Jones. A lot of laughter and funny stories.Overcompensating
Tv series
Overcompensating by Benito Skinner premiered on Amazon Prime Friday 16th May. I binged it this past weekend. I really liked it and need to watch it again. I laughed and shed a tear or two. It’s a coming-of-age story about Benny, a closeted former football player, starting college and navigating life with all there is. It’s a semi-autobiographical story based on Benito Skinner’s own life, who also plays Benny in the show. If you’re on TikTok you haven’t missed Bennydrama7 and his comedic imitations. I’m also a listener of the podcast Ride he has together with Mary Beth Barone. Who also stars in Overcompensating, playing Benny’s sister.A substack I follow
It´s almost stonefruit season, and I´m here for it. Sam Rogers started her Substack last year to share her knowledge about produce, farmers, and what’s in season. Sam loves the Market recently wrote about lilacs, and I love her newsletters about citruses and radicchio <3
A person I follow
I’ve been a long-time listener of Liz Tran’s podcast “Reset with Liz Tran”, which I enjoy and find expanding. She shares stories and tools on how to find your inner voice and act on it. Liz is a former tech executive and works as a business coach. That´s why I want to read her book Karma of Success, which she calls a guidebook to turn up the volume on your intuition and reconnect with your Inner Genius. Follow her here for daily inspiration.
